It is a persistent and excessive fear of an object or situation. Phobias can strike anyone, regardless of age or sex. Generally underlying factors of phobias are some childhood trauma or traumatic events. It is a myth that phobias stay on for life and one can’t overcome them.

Desensitise yourself, it is a treatment or process that diminishes emotional responsiveness to a negative, aversive or positive stimulus after repeated exposure to it. Slowly and gradually, expose yourself to the thing you fear the most and withdraw when your anxiety becomes excessive. Next time, push yourself bit further and so on, till the fear goes away. Maintain biofeedback, it helps in awareness about the anxious person’s physiological responses to stress.
Get help from a partner or attend a support group to face any phobia. Having the company of a friend might be helpful and gives you courage to face your fears head-on. This will help you to realize you are not alone. Being around like minded people who are thriving for the same, increases your chances of recovery.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Relaxation Techniques help to soothe your panic. Breathing deeply from your stomach helps to reverse the physical sensations, experienced during an attack. Try this and it will definitely, show your fears or phobias an exit door.
